Bangladesh World Cup Squad | ICC World Cup 2019

Bangladesh World Cup Squad: The big World Cup season is here and all the teams are gearing up for it. While New Zealand, India, Australia have already announced their World Cup Squads, Bangladesh and England are the latest to join the list. The Tigers (Famously known as) have announced their 15-member squad, and Mashrafe Mortaza will be leading their team in the coveted tournament.

SHAKIB RETURNS

Shakib Al Hasan is back in the squad after having missed the ODI series against New Zealand due to a broken finger. The 32-year all-rounder has been named as the Vice-Captain of the side and will be one of the key players for Bangladesh. Shakib, also is one of the best all-rounders in the world, ranking 2nd in the ICC rankings, for his impeccable performance, both with the bat and the ball. He has scored 5,577 runs and claimed 247 wickets, in 195 ODIs
Talking about comebacks, even Mosaddek Hossain has found himself in the WC squad. Hossain, who plays the role of a middle-order batsman for Bangladesh, has last played for his country during Asia Cup, which was held in 2018.

ABU JAYED ALL SET TO MAKE HIS DEBUT

But the player who that grabbed all the eye-balls was Abu Jayed, who will be making his grand debut in ODIs, in the world cup. Jayed, who is best known for his swing bowling, has represented Bangladesh in tests and has been impressive with his performance against New Zealand. Jayed was selected over Taskin Ahmed, who had been out of action due to an ankle injury.
Majority of the squad was an easy choice for the selectors. However, they had to sweat over making one crucial choice – A batsman who can play the role of a pacer too. The selectors found themselves in a fix over the choice between Shafiul Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Rahi. However, Rahi made the cut, considering his recent performances. Taskin had to stay out due to his injury scare and Shafiul still needs to find his form back. Rahi can also be vital in death overs with his swing bowling, and will surely double up the swing attack along with the young Abu Jayed, which will be an asset in the English conditions.
Bangladesh will kick-off their World cup tournament from June 02, where they will play against South Africa at The Oval, London. They will also be playing 2 practice matches, one each against Pakistan and India, which is scheduled on May 26 and May 28, respectively. The tournament is set to start from May 30th with the first match being played between England and South Africa, at The Oval.
